So, Give Our App A Try with Von Gutenberg Magazine

It’s a funny thing about communicating across cyber space for Von Gutenberg Magazine, unless you are sending text messages you are hoping for a reply on, mostly none of us ever know (unless we are diligently checking the analytics on a site or sadly hoping for the numbers to increase on the amount of friends we court on Facebook) just who might be looking at our tweets, blogs or anything else we get up to online.

This holds true for the blogging I do here. Sure I hope somebody’s reading me (and by last count you are out there for sure!) but I can’t really let the amount of hits we get determine the content of what I produce for Von Gutenberg here twice weekly. To do what I do to the best of my ability I have to keep reporting/commenting/exposing in the same way I always have and hope it all proves entertaining; if I ever tried to second guess myself I’d be lost.

That said, I really do hope you’ll come to checking us out at Apple. I do want to imagine you out there downloading or app, giving us a look, coming along for the ride with us as we prick the digital sphere with just the very beginnings of all we’re planning to present.

You can as much download a sample of the digital magazine (as you know from past blogs, issue #7 is as much out on newsstands and in shops around the world as it is now available on various digital formats) from Apple as much as grab a copy for $3.99. The free sample includes video and pictures of our cover girl Ophelia Overdose and will give you direct entre to the magazine if you wish it. To say we are delighted to be the first and only latex couture magazine on Apple’s newsstand would be an understatement!

So, give us a try: (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id559950917?mt=8)

The Grey Areas

Letting anyone else define your actions is dangerous; trying to discern your reasons why you need the things you need might lead you astray; defining yourself by any one label might see you ignoring a perfectly legitimate alternates from your kink/sexual preferences when they come upon you; twisting yourself into knots nightly worrying that your fantasies do not conform to some preconceived or-worse yet-religious or political definition of ‘the norm’ will probably see you in therapy for years and lastly, wondering if what you engage in is kink, fetish, lifestyle or yes, even obsession is bound to give you a headache.

Walking the resolutely lesbian side of the street what happens when you’re at one of those high-end marquis kinky events we advertise in our Fantasy Event List only to find yourself bent over a spanking bench at the behest of a gentleman you not only find attractive but find you want more than just a spanking from? All this time you have had a penchant for leather in your life but suddenly you’re reading a copy of Von Gutenberg magazine (artfully shot by Erik Von Gutenberg and expertly editored-in-chief-ed by his youthful ward Ralph Greco, Jr.) considering some latex outfits you never would have previously. You kind of know you want to be collared but then again you kind of know you don’t want to be.

As humans we live in the grey areas lots of the time, and if anything we should revel doing so. We are always on our way to the next weigh station really, even if we happen to be inert and lots of fun can be had consistently morphing into our next phase even if we are unaware we are a’moprhing. We need less definition as we do delight, really; less pressure in our lives and more pleasure and God knows it is a hell of a lot easier going with the flow when we’re not so worried where that flow is aflowin’.

There will come as many challenges to what it is that you do as there will be to you trying to define how important what you do is to you. Take it easy on yourself.

Subversion Dappers and Dandies June 4

Erik von Gutenberg is proud to announce Subversion again June 4, 2011.

Subversion presents ‘Dappers & Dandies for their June event ,and is in honour of Sebastian Horsley (8 August 1962 – 17 June 2010), a great friend of theirs who was a self styled dandy, frequently seen around Soho in beautifully tailored velvet and his trademark top hat; he danced a hedonistic life which sadly came to an end in June last year.

Theme: Think Moulin Rouge, top hats, tails, corsets, velvet, feathers, 1930s and 40s glamour…. of course if you don’t fancy going in theme, then regular fetish wear is acceptable. However, imagination is encouraged and like most fetish clubs they do have a strict fetish dress code and do ask you to make an effort so click here to read the full dress code policy on the website.

Play and dance
For those of you who love to play there is a fully equipped dungeon area with loads of fantastic equipment by Playpenz, a small medical area, a chill out area AND a separate couples room. The venue also benefits from two floors with a bar on each one, areas to change in and don’t forget the ever popular dressing gowns they give out to those visiting the smoking area – everybody loves them.

For those of you who love to dance Subversion’s resident and guest DJs are renowned for tearing up the dance floor with some of the hardest, dirtiest breaks and beats around. For the June event they’ve got Miss T, Marky Moo and Si Iridium.
