A Pre-New Year’s Celebrity Fashion Round-Up

Pamela Anderson in BikiniCelebrity fashion news flies by us faster than any trend you care to name. As we ramp-up to 2015, here are some recent notables-some frivolous, some fashionable-but all newsworthy…at least according to the web.

Vanessa Bryant, Kobe Bryant’s missus wore a $6500.00 Michael Costello dress on her family’s annual Xmas card. The dress, previously worn by Beyoncé during her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, is making quite the stir across Instagram, though Kobe and kids Natalie and Gianna are also in the pic. One-upmanship, or just a holiday greeting from the Bryants?

In either a sublime play to get lots of play for her new book or a true ‘wardrobe malfunction,’ last week ex-Vice President candidate, but still GOP hottie, Sarah Palin revealed more then what she was cooking on her Sarah Palin Channel. Palin’s black top slipped to show maybe more cleavage then she intended during a four minute video for her new book Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas. The recipe book features yummies like the blueberry pie that the former governor was laying a crust for when her black sweater’s sleeves slipped down to show a little too much bra and boobs…according to some.article-2267971-1725074E000005DC-653_634x853

Causing necks to swing and paparazzi to salivate, Pamela Anderson showed off her bikini ready body (at 47 no less) on a Hawaii beach last week. Dressed in a simple black bikini, Anderson, who has been making the rounds of late showing off her great shape in Purple Magazine, Playboy and the LOVE Advent Holiday Calendar… to name a few, looks as good as ever. Certainly we will see copious amounts of Pamela A. in 2015.

And we get to see copious amounts of famous stars (or at least amounts of them usually covered-up) in the most recent W magazine. Famous photographer Juergen Teller shot stars such as Kristen Stewart, Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaughey (during his drastic weight loss for The Dallas Buyers Club), Daniel Day-Lewis and quite a few others as they dare go without make-up.

Kristen Stewart & Chanel’s Paris-Dallas Collection

Talk about the famous (or infamous depending on your pov): the female star of the Twighlight series, Kristen Stewart, jetted off to Dallas the other day to meet with Karl Lagerfeld. It seems Kristen has just been named the face of Chanel’s Paris-Dallas collection campaign.

There have been a bevy of beauties that have ‘gone Chanel’ prior to Stewart-Keira Knightley, Diane Kruger, and Blake Lively, to name a few-and Miss Stewart’s sleepy-eyed stare will add to the fashion brand’s already high profile to be sure. It is the specific look of these ladies Chanel is after as much as their fame and like it or not, Stewart’s style and mug is well known these days. She exudes a certain ‘take me or leave me’ pose as much in the roles she plays as in her off-screen love life that has seen plenty of controversy.

One can’t believe everything one reads of course.

Did you happen to catch the actress recreating a perfect Joan Jett in The Runaways movie? Have you caught her red-carpet-ting throughout the years in various different gowns, sporting different haircuts and colors? What’s fascinating to watch is how many ‘looks’ women like Stewart can manage, on screen and off, yet still retain who they are and what they are best known for. No doubt Chanel will be exploiting all of this young lady’s charms.

We exploit (but lovingly so) the ‘charms’ of Megan Massacre,Bibiana Atada and many more in our new tattoo issue Von Gutenberg #8. Get it here if you haven’t yet:

The Metropolitan Museum Of Art ‘Punk: From Chaos to Couture’

Big doings with the hoi polloi in NYC Monday night at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art’s Punk: From Chaos to Couture exhibit. Known as the “party of the year” (but really how often does one here that label on a celeb-studded gathering?) the night had Beyonce as its honorary chairwoman, plus notables from music, movies, sports and designers.

One of the co-chairs for the night was Tisci, who dressed actress Rooney Mara of “Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” fame (a book close to our heart’s what with our next issue theme being tattoos, go here for more V.G. stuff: http://vongutenberg.com/e-magazine/) as well as the infamous Kim Kardashian. Sarah Jessica Parker wore a Giles Deacon graffiti gown and kinda hot plaid-colored Christian Louboutin thigh-high boots. Cameron Diaz and Kristen Stewart wore Stella McCartney.

“Punk rock has a unique culture and distinct style that I really admire,” the infamous Tommy Hilfiger told The Associated Press. “Music of all genres has always been a central influence in my designs. I tend to gravitate more toward classic American rock, but I listen to and love punk rock albums from The Ramones and Blondie.”

And of course, as you see, Madge herself was on hand.

Star studded get-to-gethers happen in cities like New York, Milan, London, Paris-well you get the idea-all the time and we get the chance to take a peek at all the fun and fashion when they do.
