A Pre-New Year’s Celebrity Fashion Round-Up

Pamela Anderson in BikiniCelebrity fashion news flies by us faster than any trend you care to name. As we ramp-up to 2015, here are some recent notables-some frivolous, some fashionable-but all newsworthy…at least according to the web.

Vanessa Bryant, Kobe Bryant’s missus wore a $6500.00 Michael Costello dress on her family’s annual Xmas card. The dress, previously worn by Beyoncé during her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, is making quite the stir across Instagram, though Kobe and kids Natalie and Gianna are also in the pic. One-upmanship, or just a holiday greeting from the Bryants?

In either a sublime play to get lots of play for her new book or a true ‘wardrobe malfunction,’ last week ex-Vice President candidate, but still GOP hottie, Sarah Palin revealed more then what she was cooking on her Sarah Palin Channel. Palin’s black top slipped to show maybe more cleavage then she intended during a four minute video for her new book Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas. The recipe book features yummies like the blueberry pie that the former governor was laying a crust for when her black sweater’s sleeves slipped down to show a little too much bra and boobs…according to some.article-2267971-1725074E000005DC-653_634x853

Causing necks to swing and paparazzi to salivate, Pamela Anderson showed off her bikini ready body (at 47 no less) on a Hawaii beach last week. Dressed in a simple black bikini, Anderson, who has been making the rounds of late showing off her great shape in Purple Magazine, Playboy and the LOVE Advent Holiday Calendar… to name a few, looks as good as ever. Certainly we will see copious amounts of Pamela A. in 2015.

And we get to see copious amounts of famous stars (or at least amounts of them usually covered-up) in the most recent W magazine. Famous photographer Juergen Teller shot stars such as Kristen Stewart, Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaughey (during his drastic weight loss for The Dallas Buyers Club), Daniel Day-Lewis and quite a few others as they dare go without make-up.

The Fashion of The Grammys

There were French robots (dressed in both black and white), Miss Bey sporting a see-thru white lacey Michael Costello (not to mention the super fetish look she sported on the show’s opening song), Madonna in a Ralph Lauren suit (but why the cane?) sporting a gold “grillz” on her upper teeth (huh?) and Pharrell Williams’ hat taking up all manner of vertical space, plus all the usual wackiness in fashion as well as music at The Grammys this past Sunday.

You have to love these award shows as much for the red carpet walk-in taking place hours before the actual show as for what happens during the broadcast of award giving-outting and mash-up music performances (this year saw Robin Thicke attempt to sing his way with Chicago as much as Metallic playing with the Chinese classical pianist Lang Lang).

But really, can anyone of us keep our eyes off of what these people are wearing?

Sure, it’s great to see The Beatles get their due…as many times as they do (certainly not enough by Grammy’s standards) and there were some very interesting staged moments to accompany pop hits we’ve all heard too many times already this year, but if the post wrap-up from T.V. talking heads or Monday morning quarterback fashion couture reviewers is any indication, really what our brightest and best are wearing is most important in the end.

Not they need our congrats, but we do salute the men and women of music this year (as well as others) as Von Gutenberg salutes any creative pursuit, be it new designs in latex catsuits, some super cool new tattoo Megan Massacre is inking on someone (see her as our cover girl in issue #8, available here: Apple Android Kindle ) any other pursuit our friends-readers-supporters get up into.

The fashion makes the music or the other way round? Does it matter?
